If there's going to be a PROUD moment, I have to chime in and add that Amy has finished a marathon of her own already. 2 years of Russian language at an accelerated pace. I'm talking from not being able to read the alphabet, no recognition of cursive all the way to accidentally speaking Russian while training for the 1/2 marathon, and getting advanced marks on her speaking proficiency exam!

Proud
Yup, that's right. I'm quite proud of my hubby-it was a TOUGH run on Sunday (anyone who trains for a long distance race knows that at some point there's one of those runs that lasts FOREVER!). This was the one. I was absolutely impressed by Jeff's determination-we ARE going to finish the Mini! So you can be praying for us on Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 a.m. . . . we'll let you know how it goes!

10 MILES
I ran TEN MILES! TEN! Amy is the world's best encourager. I can't believe that I actually did it. My mantra was, "I make my body my slave." It seriously helped me to get through.
I knew that I could do it - if I could just tell my body the same. So, when I hit the wall (that point that runners hit when the body tells you, "no, I will NOT run any more," I just counted 100 steps at a time until I made it through the wall. If you've seen the movie run fatboy run, you'll remember the scene where he runs into a mental brick wall.
For me it was somewhere between miles 5 and 6. Hills, heat, lack of water, sun, and probably a little bit of muscle denial were all in the mix.
But 2 weeks before we're running the half marathon, Amy and I gasped our way to 10 miles, which is our goal for race training.
Phew.

Welcome!
Jeff and I (Amy) would like to welcome you to our new "co-blog" :). From now on we'll both be posting from time to time (if you know me, you know that I'll probably write less than Jeff . . . ). We're excited about sharing our lives with you.
