Suffering - a great topic for discussion club

Yesterday Amy and I had English church. We do this maybe 4 times a year where we stay home from Russian church and we listen to an English sermon and really allow God to feed us in our own heart language. It's a pretty rare thing, but is nice on occasion and really meets us where we are.

We listened to a Timothy Keller sermon on suffering. It was SO good. It really gave some new perspectives on this topic and we decided to use Suffering as our topic for Discussion Club today.

Wow! It was awesome. For the previous two weeks, we've been talking about happiness. What is it? Where does it come from? etc. Well, so many interesting thoughts about suffering came from our conversations on happiness. Many of the participants mentioned that suffering is the opposite of happiness. That God allows suffering so that we can truly understand happiness, that we suffer not only tragic things, but also amazing things like: love. Love can cause us to suffer in a good way (like being apart from our husbands/wives).
